Carry You, written by Tim for UPRIGHT and released by Missy Higgins, has been nominated in the Song of the Year category at the 2021 APRA Music Awards.
The APRA Music Awards celebrate excellence in contemporary music, honouring songwriters and publishers who have achieved artistic excellence and outstanding success in their fields.
Tim: “I am very pleased indeed that Carry You (as sung by the great Missy Higgins) has been nominated for APRA AMCOS APRA Song of the Year. It’s up against songs by Tame Impala, Amy Shark, Midnight Oil & Dan Sultan, Guy Sebastian, so I’ve got feck-all chance of winning… but YAY! Really thrilled actually, cos it’s peer voted and all. And am also excited cos on the awards night, another Aussie artist (I don’t know who – it’s a secret) will play a version of it live!”

The 2021 APRA Music Awards take place on Wednesday 28th April at the International Convention Centre Grand Ballroom at Darling Harbour in Sydney. You’ll be able to watch rolling highlights on the night via the APRA AMCOS YouTube channel.

Tim: “I love Adelaide, and I can’t wait to bring “BACK” back for another spin. I first played the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2004 – at the late-night slot in the foyer of Festival Theatre. Since then, Adelaide has been home to so many huge moments for me: comedy shows in tents, musicals in arenas, filming Upright, orchestra shows and festival openings… I always adore my time there.”
Tim: “This is exciting. I have two songs on the shortlist for APRA AMCOS Song Of the Year. There are many excellent songs on the list, including a statistically unlikely number of West Aussies, which is nice, if you’re into parochialism, which I am, rarely. This is the award that Paul Kelly won a few years ago for “Firewood and Candles”, which my band and I performed at the awards dinner. Last time I was nominated was for Come Home (Cardinal Pell), which Kate Miller-Heidke performed when it ended up in the top 5.
So there.”

The Song Of The Year shortlist will be cut down to five final nominees in March, before the 2021 APRA Music Awards take place on Wednesday 28th April at the International Convention Centre Grand Ballroom at Darling Harbour in Sydney.

Tim’ll be performing a brand new live version of one of the songs from his new album Apart Together on The Late Late Show with James Corden TONIGHT – Tuesday 5th January. There will be a brief interview too.

The keen-eyed will notice it’s not the actual take we used. We did a bunch, and this – the last shot of the day – came up clearest on the God Go-Pro. Sorry for the washed-out footage: I pumped up the exposure so you could see more of what was going on. : )
The difference between this glorious organised chaos and the final music video is testament to director Ben Lucas’s brilliant vision, and to the talent of the camera department, and to the beautiful lighting and set design, and to the organisational skills of our awesome producers, and to the many stage management crew who gave their time.
Plus good gear, and a very clever editor, and a lovely grade. : )

UPRIGHT won Best Comedy Series at the 2020 AACTA Awards this evening, with Tim winning Best Comedy Performer for his role in the series.
The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) held the ceremony this evening in Sydney. See the AACTAs website for the full list of winners and nominees.
Highlights from the ceremony will be broadcast on Channel Seven on Wednesday at 8.30pm.
