The UK must fully commit to reaching net zero by 2050, Andy Burnham has argued in his strongest comments yet on the issue, saying it is no longer possible for Britons to believe they are not already affected by a changing climate.

Writing for the Guardian about new plans for a mass of community-led local green energy projects, the prime minister said the UK must “believe in itself”, and set out his determination to reach net zero targets, which have been rejected by the Conservatives and Reform UK.

Tim will be joining the line up for Leeds International Festival of Ideas 2026 (6th to 10th October at Leeds Playhouse).

Leeds International Festival of Ideas (#LIFI26) has announced Tim along with Ashley James and Dr Mya-Rose Craig as its initial three speakers for this year’s festival.

The festival brings together some of the most innovative and thought-provoking minds from around the world, encouraging conversation, connection and curiosity across five days of talks, panels and ideas.

The full programme of panel discussions and keynote talks will be revealed on June 3rd 2026, with topics spanning politics, culture, science, society and more.

The Hay Festival is a renowned annual 11-day literature and arts festival.

“You Don’t Have To Have a Dream (Advice for the Incrementally Ambitious)” is out in paperback on May 7th and will be available across the UK, Australia and other Commonwealth countries.

Many of you will have noticed that last year, the UK leg of “Songs the World Will Never Hear” raised over £100K for Medecins Sans Frontieres, by giving away the proceeds of hundreds of VIP seats.

For the Australian leg of the tour, we decided we would raise money for various Women and Family Shelters and other organisations in the Domestic Violence space. And I am very proud to finally share that the total amount was pretty damned close to $300,000.00. (We topped it up cos I like round numbers).

This allows us to donate $50K to each of these fantastic organisations (below).

As I toured around, I had the opportunity to meet and chat with the extraordinary people providing these – sadly vital – services.

Domestic Violence is a fucking scourge, one we need to attack from all directions. Please look up these organisations if you feel you’d like to contribute, and let us dream of (and work towards) a society in which they are redundant.

On Thursday 25th September Tim gave a speech at the NSW Government’s The Art of Tax Reform Summit 2025.

The Summit brought together economics and tax policy experts along with people from across Australia’s arts and culture sector: artists, donors, venue operators and other stakeholders to propose creative ways of helping the industry flourish.

The Art of Tax Reform Summit was held at the Sydney Opera House with the goal to produce recommendations for the next National Cultural Policy, due in 2028.

The BACK tour – with the help of Tim’s amazing audiences – enabled him to donate about $1.43m to various Australian and UK charities.

The Australian ‘Songs the World Will Never Hear’ tour will take a similar approach and audience members paying way above the average ticket price for the VIP Charity Seats are helping us to our goal of AU$250,000.

This year, the charities we are supporting in each state are all involved in the family violence space. Tim explains more and full details of the charities can be found here.

Tim will be celebrating the release of his new album Time Machine with an intimate album launch event on Wednesday 13th August, at The Grand Electric, Sydney. The night will be hosted by one of Australia’s most respected music voices, broadcaster and music journalist Zan Rowe.

The event will feature a candid conversation between Zan and Tim, delving into the making of Time Machine and the 20-year journey behind its songs, which were written in Tim’s 20s (1995–2005) but never studio recorded until now. The Q&A will be followed by a special short solo performance.
