New single ‘I Wouldn’t Like You’ out now!

I Wouldn’t Like You is out today!

It’s the third single from Tim’s forthcoming new album Tim Minchin Time Machine, which will be out July 25th 2025. (Pre-order details below).

You can listen to/download or watch the official video for ‘I Wouldn’t Like Youhere.

Tim: “Of all the tunes on this record that have been reinvented, this one has had the most successful vibe update. I always thought this was a keeper, but now with Evan’s loping groove, and the pure undeniable jank of Jak’s guitar in the chorus… I love it.”

Recorded & Performed by:
Tim Minchin – Piano and Vocals
Jak Housden – Guitars
Evan Mannell – Drums/Percussion
James Haselwood – Bass

I Wouldn’t Like You  Lyrics

Don’t ask me to stop making you coffee in the morning
Everybody has their forte
And don’t ask me to change my socks while dancing in your bedroom
Everyone needs fifteen minutes of fame

And I’d never dream of asking you to discontinue use of my
Therapeutic pillow no no

I’d never dream of asking you to dress in any garment but
The overalls that you love and know

I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like you
I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like you

Don’t ask me to stop calling you any time I want to
Everyone has their addiction

And don’t ask me to stop writing you stupid little love songs
It’s just a part of my affliction

And I’d never dream of helping you to analyse and criticise the
Imperfections of your body

I’d never dream of asking you to change one thing about yourself for me
Not for anybody

I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like you
I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like you
I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t like
You if you weren’t
Like you if you weren’t like you

New single ‘The Song of The Masochist’ out now!

The Song of The Masochist‘ is out today. It’s the second single from Tim’s upcoming new album Tim Minchin Time Machine, which will be out July 25th 2025.

You can listen to/download ‘The Song of The Masochisthere. (Lyrics below)

Tim: “Masochist is a jam track written in my early 20s, and might be unique in that it’s the only one from that era that I’ve never fallen out of love with. Sitting as it does in that place between satire and serious, it has never made it into one of my major tours… until this year. I’m stoked with this studio version, which I had taught to the boys the day before, and recorded bass, drums and guitar as live. I reckon you can feel that chaotic immediacy, yet it’s rooted in Mannell and Haselwood’s bang-in-the-pocket groove. I fkn love that groove.”

The Song of The Masochist Lyrics

Did you really think that I would love you again?
Did you think I’d just forgive the things that you’ve done to me?

You must think I’m a masochist
If you thought I’d just put up with this
And take you back again

Who do you think I am?

Did you think I’d just

Sit around and wait for you to sort out your stuff?
Ring you up fortnightly to reiterate my love for you?

You must think I’m a masochist
I’d just as soon go and slit my wrists
As take you back again

Who do you think I am?

Did you really think that I would let you have it all?
Spending time alone while making sure you keep a hold on me?

You must think I’m a masochist
I’d just as soon go and slit my wrists
As take you back again

Who do you think I am?

‘Songs The World Will Never Hear’ 2025 Australian Tour!

“SONGS THE WORLD WILL NEVER HEAR”
2025 Australian TOUR
Celebrating 20 years of FKN Hardcore Rock N Roll Nerding

Audiences can expect an evening packed with unforgettable songs and stories, as Tim looks back on how a Perth cabaret pianist ended up building one of the most eclectic and extraordinary careers in entertainment. Delivered with his signature blend of razor-sharp wit, musical virtuosity, and disarming honesty, the set list will see Tim and his band draw from three decades of unique songwriting.

Tim: “20 years ago, Dark Side took me from tiny cabaret rooms to the West End of London. In the years since then, I’ve pushed the boat out in as many directions as possible … and I’ve only been able to do so because of my fans. They’ve never flinched as I’ve turned corners and reinvented myself, always engaging open-heartedly with whatever I have to offer. I’m the luckiest artist on the planet and I can’t wait to be back touring my home country with a big joyous show, spanning my whole bloody mad career.”

New single ‘Ruby’ out now and there’s a new album ‘Tim Minchin Time Machine’ out 25th July!

Today Tim released his poignant new single ‘Ruby‘, offering a glimpse into his new album Tim Minchin Time Machine, which will be out July 25th 2025.

‘Ruby’ draws from a real-life story of a mother-daughter bond, complex, bruised, and ultimately full of love. You can listen/download the song here and you can watch the official music video here with the lyrics in the description and below.

Tim: “Tim Minchin Time Machine: Eleven tracks, all written in my 20s, re-imagined and – finally! – properly recorded and produced. Some songs you will know (including the first ever studio version of RocknRoll Nerd, which utterly bangs), and some songs you may not. It’s not a comedy record (though there’s plenty of joy and musical foolery), nor is it a chin-stroker (but there is plenty of loveliness). I’ll be dropping singles between now and then. Stay tuned, monkeys.”

You can pre-order Tim Minchin Time Machine here.

RUBY Lyrics
I’ve been listening to your songs Ruby
Showing off to all my friends
Thought I ought to let you know
That I’m your greatest fan, Ruby.

Don’t let things freak you out Ruby
You’ve got nothing to fear
Just play this one by ear
And the tune will write itself

Lipstick on the walls
Bubble shoes in basin
All your mother wants
It’s to keep you from harm

Don’t stop writing songs
Don’t stop thinking crazy
But just don’t let her go Ruby
No matter what you do
Don’t forget, she’s someone’s daughter too
She’s just a girl like you Ruby
You Ruby

And if you’re feeling down Ruby
Don’t bear the weight yourself
You’ll never be alone
Cos you’re so fucking loved Ruby

Lipstick on the walls
High heeled shoes and naked
All your mother wants
It’s to keep you from harm

Don’t stop writing songs
Don’t stop playing your game
But don’t let her slip away Ruby
No matter what they say
Don’t forget, she also feels this way
No never let her go Ruby
No matter what you do
Don’t forget, she’s someone’s daughter too
She’s just a girl like you Ruby

Tim wrote the ‘Good Day Sunshine’ theme for the Netflix series ‘Eric’

Tim wrote a song for the new TV mini series Eric which was released on Netflix last month.

Set in 1980s New York, the six part series drama, written by Abi Morgan, stars Benedict Cumberbatch as puppeteer Vincent, the creative genius behind a Sesame Street-esque show called Good Day Sunshine. When his nine year old son Edgar goes missing, Vincent becomes convinced that if he brings to life the new puppet Edgar had been inventing for the show – Eric – his son will come home. Eric, a seven foot tall muppet invisible to others, follows Vincent around…
