A true original. Thank you for sharing your genius with the world; you’ve made a lifelong fan out of this American lady
My Aunty in the UK went to get her grandson a copy of ‘You so F*****g Rock’ she couldn’t bring herself to say the word to ask for it so she phoned her daughter and got her to say it over the phone!!!
My daughter turned me on to you and said, “Don’t you think grandma would have liked him?” The answer was, “Yes, she would have loved him!” My mom was a professional piano player and her favorite stuff to play was silly, old songs from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, but especially parodies. I grew up listening to her play crazy, little, unknown tunes, then sharing with my friends. I have so missed her and can’t begin to thank you enough for working hard to become famous so you could share this great musical niche.
I’m an agnostic in southern Oregon, USA…Maybe , I’m the only one. Today, I listened to White wine in the sun. It was the first time since I played it to the most wonderful Mum a man could ask for. She left this earth, last January. No, I don’t know where she went. But she sure did love that song. I played it for her last Christmas, when she was so ill. I just want to tell you thank you, for putting a smile and a tear to both of our faces.
I bought a park, this summer. No, its a first for me. I bought it, because Mum would have wanted me to. Mum used to swim there, with all us kids, in the best swimming hole in Oregon. . I’m naming it Merete’s Cove after my Mum.Its one of the worlds most beautiful places. I’m trying to build a beautiful bandstand there. Mum loved music. I welcome you to sing there someday. I know its a little crazy. But including you, there would be at least two Atheists near the stage. Three including my sweet daughter, Brook, who also loves your music. Maybe I dream too big……. Either way, My family will be listening to white wine in the sun, this Christmas, and thinking of Mum.
Hi Tim – My wife and I saw you in Thousand Oaks on Saturday and said “hello” afterwards. We’re the couple from Phoenix who mentioned to you that I played piano and sang at her over the Internet and in return she married me. Pretty good trade, honestly. We made it back safely, by the way. Anyway I just wanted to drop a note to say thank you for such a fantastic show, and your transformative influence on my life. I’m very very very happy to be able to say that I shook your hand, and I’m very very very sad that I declined to be in the picture that you took with my wife. Come back soon!

Hey Tim&Co.
I first saw u(tim) @ moorabbin town hall in 05 and was soooooo fu***ng impressed-u r a genius. My sister thinks ur weird and even though i sort of agree, i still think u r awsome-kEEP IT UP.
Hey hey tim, the donut shop that I work at (Puffin Fresh Whitfords City, Perth) just started distributing Canvas Bags. Well not canvas as such, but those big reusable hard plasticy ones. I’m not too sure what they’re actually made of, but I’m very glad, because I was previously getting told off by my boss for not offering customers plastic bags to put their multiple donuts in. ‘It can’t be that hard to just *carry* them, guys, Do it for the environment.’ But apparently there’s no room for environmental friendliness in the world of donut retail.
Well g2g, I’m off to work :D
was the photographer at your radio recording at the drill hall london on the 2 nov which was great fun…loved the song about pigs very funny, hope to catch a show at the duchess got some great shots for the bbc too!!!!
To Blake:
I really meant that i dont think
We get circumsised
You get circumsised
Why not get circumsised togethor would sound as good as.
We dont eat pigs etc.
Maybe i was wrong…
Your music has been with me through some tough times in America. I am a Black woman. I don’t have much hope for changing my stars. But hearing your excellent voice rock n rolling my troubles away… at least for a day… keeps me sane. I know you do the same for millions around the world. It was my birthday a few days ago. I turned 46. I hope to see you live again before I reach 50. I promised my niece (she’s always challenging me) that I would chase one dream this year. I hope I don’t sound too weird when I say, I want to sit in that future audience of Minchin fans and scream my head off for you again. My humble dream. Much love from Portland, Oregon USA.
Thanks for the positive in this sea of controversy. I liked your message so much I bought the book!
Hi Tim. Mike from Tampa here. Once you hit 70, you start thinking of things you’d like to do while you still can. My daughter and I saw your NYC TM & his Piano and London Songs the World Will Never Hear shows. Hard to to top that. Then it hit me. Dream big! Would you consider bringing back your Royal Albert Hall Orchestra show? I’m a tennis player. Your NYC and London shows coincided with the US Open and Wimbledon. It was much easier selling going across the pond to my velp, if I also got to attend one of the majors. Thanks. Mike
I’m thankful you came to Toowoomba. Watching real people with really amazing talent was a blast of fresh air, blowing away the junk that builds up from scrolling. Phew, you came in time. Thanks again xxxx
Dearest Tim, I just wanted to post a thank you / congratulations, to you and your team on the end of your tour; the gig in Toowoomba was the perfect finale! Thank you for sharing your new work with us tonight, we could all see what it meant to you, although I did have a pretty good view of your celebratory Hi-5 during the next number. I am just hoping that tonight you felt the love of an entire generation of students, from one of those special tax exempt organisations, here in Toowoomba. Starting them with ‘Storm’ in the middle years Philosophy elective, and always ending with your UWA speech for the Yr 12’s…I’m not saying that you are a ‘tool’, but you know what? You were a great tool! Someone, whose intelligence and wit opened the eyes of a generation, and more importantly, gave hope to those who thought, or were at a minimum, interested in thinking… Love your work – its importance simply can’t be measured!
Hi Tim, I was listening to White Wine in the Sun again today. It pops up in my social media memories all the time because I’ve shared it so much over the years. My Dad really loved Christmas — he loved having everyone around him. He passed away in 2019, on the 17th of December, at 80 years of age. He just wanted to make it to one more Christmas. Upright came out that same month. The song Carry You, and the series itself, absolutely broke me… but somehow carried me through as well. I don’t think I really grieved in the way I expected to until this year. Suddenly, it’s hitting me like a train.I really miss him. This Christmas it will be just my Mum and me. I’m towing my little 1986 Viscount caravan up to the lake at Wooroonook, Victoria, to try to make something meaningful of the day for her. She’s 81 now and struggling to get around. My brother, sister-in-law, niece, nephew, and even my sons won’t be there. It’s going to be a hard one. Christmas just doesn’t bring me joy anymore. But still, I’ll sip white wine in the sun, think of my Dad, and try to make a happy memory with Mum — because I know her time is drawing close too. I just wanted to say thank you. Your music has a way of touching people at their deepest places, and these songs have been a part of my healing more than you could know. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and I hope you keep writing the kind of music that reaches people when they need it most. Thank you ~ Megan xo
Dear Tim. We went to your concert in Canberra tonight. We have to drive 2 +1/2 hours and stay overnight. It was very well worth that effort. There were many moments that made us laugh and cry and think deeply about my life and where to from here. We are in our senior years and enjoyed it all immensely. We have followed your career from the beginning and as rusted on nerds will continue to do so. I saw Matilda the musical live in Sydney and enjoyed that very much. Would love to see Groundhog if it comes our way. Thanks again for all the music and the chat. Loved it all. Love to you and your family. Coral
I saw your show in Brisbane on Friday with my partner. I have never seen a crowd so obedient to putting their phones down. We all desperately wanted to photograph the real life Tim Minchin for ourselves. Many took the sneaky blurry shots that will forever be the bragging point over Christmas dinner. The recovery from accidentally entertaining the comedian in the crowd, to the perfectly balanced sound was amazing. Thank you for giving us almost an hour of extra entertainment. Absolutely worth it. I’m so glad I saw this before seeing Metallica tickets. It would have been a hard choice. Probably would have still chosen you. This is a big tick on my life bucket list.
Hi Tim. Mike from Tampa here. My daughter and I loved yer show at the Apollo. Matilda at Cambridge there’s… no words. The London sites and a day at Wimbledon after 7 hours on the que. Could’ve been perfect, butt…You didn’t do Airport Piano, so this is all your fault. I had to do it. I’m a 70, mediocre singer, though energetic and enthusiastic. I sang Airport Piano at Karaoke last night. Sounds ok but… I live in a nudist resort. My 70 y/o 140lb nekid scrawny bod singing my favorite song. I’d include a vid, except cameras are not allowed…
Hi. I just wanted to say. I’m finally listening to “Time Machine” (I was going to do it sooner, but it felt so weird to do so right after Tom died. I felt like I had to listen to him for awhile first). And I got to The Song of The Masochocist… and broke down crying. When “Apart Together” came out it was not a good time. For anyone really. I’m in the US and it was just. SO BAD. And then that album came out and I listened on repeat. And it made things better. I would just lay in bed as it felt like we were in the 10th, 11th, 12th month of the apocalypse and would cry as songs like “The Absence of You” comforted me against the absence of the WORLD. Because that was it, the whole WORLD was a hole and it was missing and everything was horrible. And “Apart Together” was what kept ME together. And listening to “Time Machine”, 4 tracks in, and I broke down sobbing because I had somehow forgotten just how much hearing your music when I’m in a dark place, like I am again, can just mend me and make it ok. Even for a little bit. And I had always hoped someday I could tell you that in person but, I’m an American, nope, so here I am. Anyway, thanks. For putting this box here and for making all the music you do. I’ve been listening for a long time, and you’ve gotten me through so much. Thank you for everything.
This is silly because I don’t really think you will read it in person but I still want to say Thank you for saving my marriage! We’ve been through a lot and there are so many times I’ve just wanted to walk away from everything. It took me a long time to discover you (since I live in Sweden where “everyone” says “Heh, Tim who?”) but the two first songs I heard were White wine in the sun (which reminded me of the importance of family) and Not perfect (which reminded me that I am pretty nice and can stand myself). Your rock ‘n’ roll nerding makes me happy and your love songs make me sad and happy at the same time and I confess the huuuuge confirmation biases ? My 50th birthday was coming up and I felt trapped, old and unloved. I thought about spending it in Paris all by myself. Then you unveiled your UK tour! Bam! I bought tickets to Edinburgh and told my husband that he could come with me if he promised to try to understand WHY I really had to go and he was not allowed ruin it! He prepared by listening to the songs and our kids gave him “clues and keys to mummy” and he nailed them all. I haven’t felt so loved in years! And to be there seeing and hearing you live, sharing tears of laughter and touched hearts, feeling his eyes on me when I was ALIVE for the first time in years and holding his hand to all the lovesongs (including the boobs ?)… yes, you saved us. Thank you ??
…and here is the rest…

good work greet you
u a very funny man u should be on spicks and specks more often
I was in Psychology the other day feeling bored, then the teacher started talking about lab experiments … so I replaced the word ‘experiments’ with the letter ‘s’ … then laughed lots … so yeah I thought you should know because I don’t have anything to do at the minute hehe …
Where do you live? I want to come and bring you cookies.
Actually I don’t, I just wanted to write that, it amused me. And now I feel strange because I’ve written more than anyone else an this guest book.
Ok I haven’t writen the most now.
i watch you sleep at night
Tonya, you don’t have to worry about the length of your comments until they verge on essays, like mine. This is actually a very short comment for me, believe it or not.
Hey Tim, saw your gig in manchester last weekend must say it was awesome. You’ve inspired me to take up song writing, (well give it a good go). Hope to get to another gig soon. keep up the good work.
Lee
I’ll bring you cookies!
Tim, you are the most brilliant guy in the universe. You rock on the Sideshow, and I’d probably buy your dvd except I don’t have the money. Oh, well.
Your comedy is catching on like wildfire here in the states Tim. Please look into getting your show into some venues other than in NYC, LA or Vegas when you pop over to the us. Those are nice places to appear but hell to get to for folks who don’t live in those cities already. Loads of folks here would love to come see your act who can’t get to, or aren’t located in those mammoth cities.
I’m old enough to be your mum but like the kids say here, I think your comedy is “f’in sweet”!
I left my Tim Minchin canvas bag on the tram the other day and no one has handed it in to lost property. It had great sentimental value as it was one of the first lot, got it at the Comedy Festival gig 2005 just prior to going to Japan for a year – where it served me well, travelling all around the Land of the Rising Sun with me and stopping well-meaning Japanese service staff from providing me with enough plastic bags to kill several schools of dolphins. I WANT MY TIM MINCHIN CANVAS BAG BACK GODDAMN IT.
Your DVD arrived yesterday.. it was marvelous. totally worth the $30 or so.
Can’t wait to see you at the Powerhouse :D
Really great stuff Tim. I can really relate to “Not Perfect”, among others. If you ever come to far north Queensland, remember the Kuranda amphitheatre. Keep up the good work, the world badly need more people like you.
Hey, I just wanted to say how much I love your music…not much…haha I’m only pulling your leg! don’t care what you reckon, you will always be a Rock N Roll God to me! keep up the good work, and I hope you and your inflatable are going well…
When are you coming to Tassie? Please make it soon!
When are you gonna come back on The SideShow Again?
And Spicks and Specks?
You really make those programs a hell of a lot funnier when you perform on em. Keep up the good work!
Onya Minchin, coming to see you at the Brisbane PowerHouse!
We agree with Adrian. Please spare a thought for us incredibly suave people in North Queensland. We and many others would be stoked to see you perform here!Drew and Clare follow your work closely and study music at Uni. We wish we had more hands to give you lots of thumbs up.
Ou the new website looks fucken awesome! Spamming your stuff like mad on the tokyotosho anime forums (I’m strange :D yessss) and wherever people will listen >.
Really loved the band arrangements of Rock n Roll nerd on the Side Show the other day, maybe its just the Sax player in me, either way, you’ll always be my rock star Tim! ;)
All I can say is…. You are so mother-fucking rock…..
Heard one of your albums (I think it was Dark Side… not 100% sure) at a friends house the other day… and pissed my pants laughing
We are definitely coming to one of your Brisbane shows in December.. maybe even all of them (if the lotto numbers come good)
Keepin’ the arts real brother….. 100/10
Thanks for making me laugh. Alot.

Don’t tell Alick though, he’s already fed up of hearing about you. So much so that he refused to watch your DVD. Oops. Not to worry though, I got round that by playing him his favourite song. *Then* he was interested. Well, for about five minutes at least…
Hello Tim! I would love to get a copy of your DVD but I live in the US and my DVD player will only play NTSC and not PAL! Any chance you will be releasing an NTSC or region-free version? Keep up the awesome work!!! :)

I thought it might be relevant to point out that when leaving comments on the website of a comic genius a little creativity wouldn’t go astray.
Tim,. just watched “So live” Am a musician with Bipolar and you are seriously the funniest laugh I have had in years. You give from your heart to your audience. You let them into your life and can say the most amazingly profane things and we all just want to feed you a cookie.
You struck me silent when you said “its my brain and it lives behind my eyes and is where i keep all the fucked up thoughts so I don’t hurt anybody”. “It’s not perfect but it’s mine”. If you ever wondered, you did manage to touch a person who has been there.
We are off to Side show on the 2911. Hope like hell you’ll be there. We will be the ones going “Eat pork together’.
Drew and Connie
I saw you at the Upright Citizens Brigade and I must say I was speechless with laughter and I sure as heck wanna buy a canvas bag ;-) When will they be available? Also what are your favorite kind of cookies?

Hey! I think you should try to put on a show in Utah. I know this state blows and there’s not really a reason as to why anyone would want to come here. But I’ll give you cookies. Delicious death cookies. Eh, eh? Sounds intriguing, right?
Will really miss seeing you on The Sideshow when it ends. You’re one hell of a freakishly talented guy (with awesome hair ;)).
Hi Tim!
Saw you in High Wycombe last February. Remember the girly giggle machine? I was one of them. We’re all still massive fans of yours. Keep up the good work :D
http://gambling-resources.info/viagra/free-viagra-prescription.php
Had a kick-ass time watching the gig at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival with my pal Tanyalee Davis. And now, I can’t get the Canvas Bag song out of my head. And, perhaps you’ve heard Oscar Peterson songs enough to have heard of Mike Jones,(jonesjazz.com), my hubby. You did a few riffs that reminded me of his. Great stuff- looking forward to having you continue your taking over the world. Carry on!
Nise cite?TIM!
i am sooooo late to jump on this band wagon, but still very excited anyway.
i will find someone to drag along and will hopefully see you at one of the Perth gigs in December!
Anti-Theist rock; can it get much better??
Just saw him in Vegas (had never heard of him, but the ticket was cheap, $35 US) and he has a new fan. In fact, the only person who liked him better was the hooker I brought with me.
Tim, you’re so fuckin’ rock!
Your new fan,
John
LOS ANGELES, ACME THEATRE: I see a lot of live shows – comedy and theatre – and only two times in my life have been compelled to be one of the first to jump up in a standing ovation. Last night was one of them. (The other shall remain umentioned due to reasons involving a mistress, misappropriated funds and an incident involving the temporary loss of function in one of my balls.)
I had never heard of Tim Minchin before last week, but I expect I will be hearing and seeing much of this vivacious virtuoso in years to come. It was more than entertainment, it was goddamned inspirational!
hi tim minchin i like you come to the side show with paul mcdermott
hi i like u
come to mikaylas house 48a dawkins rd lewiston s.a
I just wanted to Thank You again for the wonderful show in L.A. and for taking the time to take a photo with us. Your an amazing fellow to say the least. So talented and also so very lovely to talk to. I hope your tour proves to be profitable and enjoyable! :)
I live in Canada, but not only Canada but Ontario, Canada….so far up in Ontario that kids design their Halloween costumes too fit over snow suites…and i would (if i could) fly out to Brisbane, Australia just to give u cookies if it meant seeing you, if thats not love i don’t know what is…. I would also read u passages from the Koran wearing nothing but a bob the builder hat and let u wear my underwear cause i too think it’s nice to have lace between my buns….TIM YOUR A GOD !!! I love you, you crazy freakish, oh so delectable you.
hey, i just wrote what I considered to be an hilarious, poignant yet sassy post and either cyber demons have absconded with it or I am too much of a moron to complete a post successfully. So this will be a shorter version of what had been (if I must say so myself, and I must) a love sonnet in four quartets and in perfect harmony. Tim’s eyes (it went on) Tim’s eyes. His beautiful eyes (it said) and so on. And so forth. This will just have to do.
Your and amazingly brilliant and talented man Minchin. I’m learning the piano at the moment and after watching you DVD for the first time I thought ‘yeh I wanna be as good as Elton John as well’ Your an inspiration.
hey. i’ll bring you cookies. where do you live?

So I am the Colombian who went with an English guy to see you in New York, and did not expect to laugh so loud. You are the translation of funny. The dark make up, the frozen smile, the lack of shoes, the fan, and your skinny ribs exposed…ALL THAT and the piano…you are a talented thing

Unfortunately i don’t think i can mix it with the highly intelligent, witty, grammatically-correct and aesthetically-sublime individuals that constitute the membership of what you – with typical humility – refer to as the Me Forum,(or should i say You Forum…stop confusing me) however… I would like to say your work is truly the most amazing thing i have ever heard/seen and i am very sorry i missed Violet’s birthday, so here’s a belated best wishes.
P.S. Where do you live? you know i was just wondering…
P.P.S. I’m 13 and i also play piano and also think your hair is Cool… Oh my god! i’m Beccy’s secret twin!

I love the bit about the hungry hungry hippos! Every time someone mentions either the word ‘hungry’ or ‘hippo’, I need to restrain myself from laughing :D I think I’m either going to drive my friends or anyone reading this page mental from my prattling, so I probably should shut it now…ta ta!

Hmmmmm, if it was tim was hacking my limbs off i might not mind so much, I’d love to go on a date with tim and not eat pig, hands off, his mine. (i did actually try Angry(feet), it was confusing!)
Hey Tim, hope all is fine and dandy.
Give us a little wave at some point to let us know you survived the states (and if you want to let us know how you think it went, that’d be fine too). For once I’ve run out of things to say. Cherish this moment. x

I agree… SO LIVE!!!!! i wasn’t sure about it until (on various advertisements) i saw ‘and ginger body hair’ MAS. and ‘buy as a chrissy present for your uncle, even if your jewish and you hate your uncle’… now we have all possible reasons for not getting it covered and defeated, i can’t wait till Christmas.
all of you children really need to go away. get lives. leave tm alone. stop posting how great he is, how much you love him, how you’re so inspired by him, how you want him to come to your towns. all of this is bugger. so annoying. so, so dull. go back to your texting, your X boxes, your whatever you do that keeps you busy –just do. i beg you. take pity. when you all vanish, vanish you can (and must), then mr. m will have no choice. There will be no one, no one but me, just me. Me alone. & he will have to in some way acknowledge that fact. so please, children, go out and play. go far, far away, far, far away, go far, far away and take your lunch (es).
I’m ever so slightly alarmed by the recent activity in your guestbook. It makes some of us look positively controlled and sane. If you’ve started filming the movie then I hope it’s going well!x
I am concerned that Sarah is concerned and alarmed by recent activity on the guest book. Perhaps some of the posts – written in jest — are frightening if viewed with the naked eye.
Tim Minchin is the bomb!
But when the frost’s on the pumpkin and the little girls are jumpin’
he’s a hard-loving son-of-a-gun. He’s got them waiting down stairs
just to sample his affaifs; They call him a spoonful of fun! (man)
2nd Verse
He’s the kind of person going riding on a skateboard
And his mind raging out of control (and)
He’s the kind of person gonna drive a Maserati
Puts the key inside the wrong little whole.
He’s the kind of ski-bum tearing wild down the mountain,
Hits a patch where there ain’t any snow. (and)
He’s the kind of cowboy got a hot trigger finger,
Shoots his boot, ’cause he’s drawing kind of slow.
But when it comes time for rolling, he’s an expert at bowling,
Sets the pins up and lays them right down.
He’s got them taking off their heels, and they like the way he feels,
And they call him a carnival clown.
3rd Verse
Well now, he’s got a parachute , screaming out “Geronimo,”
And makes a little hole in the ground. (and)
He’s the kind of logger when the man hollers “timber,”
Has to stop and look around for the sound. (and)
He’s the kind of artist rents a groovy little attic
And discovers that he can’t grow a beard. (and)
He’s a human cannonball, come in for a landing
And wonders where the net disappeared.
But when he takes off his shoes , man it won’t come as news
That they’re lining up in threes and in twos.
He’s got them fainting on the floor, got them begging for some more
And they call him what ever they choose.
