A true original. Thank you for sharing your genius with the world; you’ve made a lifelong fan out of this American lady

    Dearest Tim,
I’ve been meaning to write to you for a decade; sorry for tardiness.
So I came to see your show at the Southbank in London on 21st December 2008. I was with my lovely wife Camilla and our gorgeous friends Helen and Oscar. Prior to 21st December 2008, Camilla and I had monthly discussions about the merits of dedicating an entire drawer in our 1 bedroom Kensal Green flat for plastic-bags that were collected when visiting the supermarket. I repeatedly failed to make a compelling case for the use of our own bags. Neither saving space in NW10 nor saving life on the planet were deemed significant arguments. Looking back i could have gone the supermarket myself with my rucksack to do the weekly shop but being a young male knobhead this didn’t occur. Anyhow, Post 21st December 2008 ‘we’ stopped accepting plastic bags from the supermarket checkout person because ‘we’ had our own bags with us. We don’t really talk about why our position changed, but we both know the answer.
    Thanks very much.
    we love you!
    Tom
ps. if you are short of lyrics for new material, how about: Hey, stop insisting on taking the car when its a nice day and the bicycles are in the hallway.

    Dear Tim,
I have been meaning to write to you for a decade; apologies for my tardiness.
So me and wifey (Milly) and our friends (Helen & Oscar) came to see you at the Southbank in London on 21st December 2008.
Prior to 21st December 2008, Wifey and I used to have lots of challenging conversations about whether we should dedicate an entire drawer to the storage of plastic bags, or stop receiving so many plastic bags into our very small 1 bedroom Kensal flat. I outlined that such a move would both save the world and create new drawer space for cutlery, but my suggestion fell on deaf ears.
Post 21st December 2008, ‘our’ position on plastic bags changed. We don’t really talk about why, but we both know.
Thanks so much, we love you.
    Tom
Ps. when you are next in London could you perform a song with the lyric ‘maybe don’t insist on taking the car if it’s a nice day and the bikes are in the hallway’ or suchlike.
