A true original. Thank you for sharing your genius with the world; you’ve made a lifelong fan out of this American lady
My Aunty in the UK went to get her grandson a copy of ‘You so F*****g Rock’ she couldn’t bring herself to say the word to ask for it so she phoned her daughter and got her to say it over the phone!!!
My daughter turned me on to you and said, “Don’t you think grandma would have liked him?” The answer was, “Yes, she would have loved him!” My mom was a professional piano player and her favorite stuff to play was silly, old songs from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, but especially parodies. I grew up listening to her play crazy, little, unknown tunes, then sharing with my friends. I have so missed her and can’t begin to thank you enough for working hard to become famous so you could share this great musical niche.
I’m an agnostic in southern Oregon, USA…Maybe , I’m the only one. Today, I listened to White wine in the sun. It was the first time since I played it to the most wonderful Mum a man could ask for. She left this earth, last January. No, I don’t know where she went. But she sure did love that song. I played it for her last Christmas, when she was so ill. I just want to tell you thank you, for putting a smile and a tear to both of our faces.
I bought a park, this summer. No, its a first for me. I bought it, because Mum would have wanted me to. Mum used to swim there, with all us kids, in the best swimming hole in Oregon. . I’m naming it Merete’s Cove after my Mum.Its one of the worlds most beautiful places. I’m trying to build a beautiful bandstand there. Mum loved music. I welcome you to sing there someday. I know its a little crazy. But including you, there would be at least two Atheists near the stage. Three including my sweet daughter, Brook, who also loves your music. Maybe I dream too big……. Either way, My family will be listening to white wine in the sun, this Christmas, and thinking of Mum.
Hi Tim – My wife and I saw you in Thousand Oaks on Saturday and said “hello” afterwards. We’re the couple from Phoenix who mentioned to you that I played piano and sang at her over the Internet and in return she married me. Pretty good trade, honestly. We made it back safely, by the way. Anyway I just wanted to drop a note to say thank you for such a fantastic show, and your transformative influence on my life. I’m very very very happy to be able to say that I shook your hand, and I’m very very very sad that I declined to be in the picture that you took with my wife. Come back soon!

Hey Tim&Co.
I first saw u(tim) @ moorabbin town hall in 05 and was soooooo fu***ng impressed-u r a genius. My sister thinks ur weird and even though i sort of agree, i still think u r awsome-kEEP IT UP.
Hey hey tim, the donut shop that I work at (Puffin Fresh Whitfords City, Perth) just started distributing Canvas Bags. Well not canvas as such, but those big reusable hard plasticy ones. I’m not too sure what they’re actually made of, but I’m very glad, because I was previously getting told off by my boss for not offering customers plastic bags to put their multiple donuts in. ‘It can’t be that hard to just *carry* them, guys, Do it for the environment.’ But apparently there’s no room for environmental friendliness in the world of donut retail.
Well g2g, I’m off to work :D
was the photographer at your radio recording at the drill hall london on the 2 nov which was great fun…loved the song about pigs very funny, hope to catch a show at the duchess got some great shots for the bbc too!!!!
To Blake:
I really meant that i dont think
We get circumsised
You get circumsised
Why not get circumsised togethor would sound as good as.
We dont eat pigs etc.
Maybe i was wrong…
Your music has been with me through some tough times in America. I am a Black woman. I don’t have much hope for changing my stars. But hearing your excellent voice rock n rolling my troubles away… at least for a day… keeps me sane. I know you do the same for millions around the world. It was my birthday a few days ago. I turned 46. I hope to see you live again before I reach 50. I promised my niece (she’s always challenging me) that I would chase one dream this year. I hope I don’t sound too weird when I say, I want to sit in that future audience of Minchin fans and scream my head off for you again. My humble dream. Much love from Portland, Oregon USA.
Thanks for the positive in this sea of controversy. I liked your message so much I bought the book!
Hi Tim. Mike from Tampa here. Once you hit 70, you start thinking of things you’d like to do while you still can. My daughter and I saw your NYC TM & his Piano and London Songs the World Will Never Hear shows. Hard to to top that. Then it hit me. Dream big! Would you consider bringing back your Royal Albert Hall Orchestra show? I’m a tennis player. Your NYC and London shows coincided with the US Open and Wimbledon. It was much easier selling going across the pond to my velp, if I also got to attend one of the majors. Thanks. Mike
I’m thankful you came to Toowoomba. Watching real people with really amazing talent was a blast of fresh air, blowing away the junk that builds up from scrolling. Phew, you came in time. Thanks again xxxx
Dearest Tim, I just wanted to post a thank you / congratulations, to you and your team on the end of your tour; the gig in Toowoomba was the perfect finale! Thank you for sharing your new work with us tonight, we could all see what it meant to you, although I did have a pretty good view of your celebratory Hi-5 during the next number. I am just hoping that tonight you felt the love of an entire generation of students, from one of those special tax exempt organisations, here in Toowoomba. Starting them with ‘Storm’ in the middle years Philosophy elective, and always ending with your UWA speech for the Yr 12’s…I’m not saying that you are a ‘tool’, but you know what? You were a great tool! Someone, whose intelligence and wit opened the eyes of a generation, and more importantly, gave hope to those who thought, or were at a minimum, interested in thinking… Love your work – its importance simply can’t be measured!
Hi Tim, I was listening to White Wine in the Sun again today. It pops up in my social media memories all the time because I’ve shared it so much over the years. My Dad really loved Christmas — he loved having everyone around him. He passed away in 2019, on the 17th of December, at 80 years of age. He just wanted to make it to one more Christmas. Upright came out that same month. The song Carry You, and the series itself, absolutely broke me… but somehow carried me through as well. I don’t think I really grieved in the way I expected to until this year. Suddenly, it’s hitting me like a train.I really miss him. This Christmas it will be just my Mum and me. I’m towing my little 1986 Viscount caravan up to the lake at Wooroonook, Victoria, to try to make something meaningful of the day for her. She’s 81 now and struggling to get around. My brother, sister-in-law, niece, nephew, and even my sons won’t be there. It’s going to be a hard one. Christmas just doesn’t bring me joy anymore. But still, I’ll sip white wine in the sun, think of my Dad, and try to make a happy memory with Mum — because I know her time is drawing close too. I just wanted to say thank you. Your music has a way of touching people at their deepest places, and these songs have been a part of my healing more than you could know. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and I hope you keep writing the kind of music that reaches people when they need it most. Thank you ~ Megan xo
Dear Tim. We went to your concert in Canberra tonight. We have to drive 2 +1/2 hours and stay overnight. It was very well worth that effort. There were many moments that made us laugh and cry and think deeply about my life and where to from here. We are in our senior years and enjoyed it all immensely. We have followed your career from the beginning and as rusted on nerds will continue to do so. I saw Matilda the musical live in Sydney and enjoyed that very much. Would love to see Groundhog if it comes our way. Thanks again for all the music and the chat. Loved it all. Love to you and your family. Coral
I saw your show in Brisbane on Friday with my partner. I have never seen a crowd so obedient to putting their phones down. We all desperately wanted to photograph the real life Tim Minchin for ourselves. Many took the sneaky blurry shots that will forever be the bragging point over Christmas dinner. The recovery from accidentally entertaining the comedian in the crowd, to the perfectly balanced sound was amazing. Thank you for giving us almost an hour of extra entertainment. Absolutely worth it. I’m so glad I saw this before seeing Metallica tickets. It would have been a hard choice. Probably would have still chosen you. This is a big tick on my life bucket list.
Hi Tim. Mike from Tampa here. My daughter and I loved yer show at the Apollo. Matilda at Cambridge there’s… no words. The London sites and a day at Wimbledon after 7 hours on the que. Could’ve been perfect, butt…You didn’t do Airport Piano, so this is all your fault. I had to do it. I’m a 70, mediocre singer, though energetic and enthusiastic. I sang Airport Piano at Karaoke last night. Sounds ok but… I live in a nudist resort. My 70 y/o 140lb nekid scrawny bod singing my favorite song. I’d include a vid, except cameras are not allowed…
Hi. I just wanted to say. I’m finally listening to “Time Machine” (I was going to do it sooner, but it felt so weird to do so right after Tom died. I felt like I had to listen to him for awhile first). And I got to The Song of The Masochocist… and broke down crying. When “Apart Together” came out it was not a good time. For anyone really. I’m in the US and it was just. SO BAD. And then that album came out and I listened on repeat. And it made things better. I would just lay in bed as it felt like we were in the 10th, 11th, 12th month of the apocalypse and would cry as songs like “The Absence of You” comforted me against the absence of the WORLD. Because that was it, the whole WORLD was a hole and it was missing and everything was horrible. And “Apart Together” was what kept ME together. And listening to “Time Machine”, 4 tracks in, and I broke down sobbing because I had somehow forgotten just how much hearing your music when I’m in a dark place, like I am again, can just mend me and make it ok. Even for a little bit. And I had always hoped someday I could tell you that in person but, I’m an American, nope, so here I am. Anyway, thanks. For putting this box here and for making all the music you do. I’ve been listening for a long time, and you’ve gotten me through so much. Thank you for everything.
This is silly because I don’t really think you will read it in person but I still want to say Thank you for saving my marriage! We’ve been through a lot and there are so many times I’ve just wanted to walk away from everything. It took me a long time to discover you (since I live in Sweden where “everyone” says “Heh, Tim who?”) but the two first songs I heard were White wine in the sun (which reminded me of the importance of family) and Not perfect (which reminded me that I am pretty nice and can stand myself). Your rock ‘n’ roll nerding makes me happy and your love songs make me sad and happy at the same time and I confess the huuuuge confirmation biases ? My 50th birthday was coming up and I felt trapped, old and unloved. I thought about spending it in Paris all by myself. Then you unveiled your UK tour! Bam! I bought tickets to Edinburgh and told my husband that he could come with me if he promised to try to understand WHY I really had to go and he was not allowed ruin it! He prepared by listening to the songs and our kids gave him “clues and keys to mummy” and he nailed them all. I haven’t felt so loved in years! And to be there seeing and hearing you live, sharing tears of laughter and touched hearts, feeling his eyes on me when I was ALIVE for the first time in years and holding his hand to all the lovesongs (including the boobs ?)… yes, you saved us. Thank you ??
…and here is the rest…

Oh no, that’s just me.
Hi, I know it’s a bit late but you did a show last year at the the pheonix theatre in Leicester, I thought it was rather good!
Hi Tim. You are now considered lovely in the eyes of all my friends. I, of course, already knew. Can’t wait for when you come back to Melbourne!
Hi Tim.
I just wanted to say that I love your songs and the way that you can talk about anything you feel like.
Hope someday you come do a show here in Rio de Janeiro.
Hi Tim
I saw Rock n Roll Nerd at the Melbourne International Film festival a few days ago..it was fantastic. What a wonderful ride you have been on in the last few years. Thanks for the wonderful comedy and music you produce and for the honesty both you and your wife gave to the documentary. All the best in the future, I will look out for your gigs the next time you are in Melbourne.

Hey there! We came and saw you live in Edinburgh on friday 01-08-08 in the ‘badly converted gymnasium'(we were sat front row next to ‘Shallom’ man). Had seen you on TV prior and you lived up to your sharp witted and ironic views life, love and of course shopping bags. Will probably/possibly be coming to see you at Stirling in October. Keep doing what you do!
Cheers
Hey Ginger,
Saw your show on Saturday in the sports hall where I previously sat dull exams – it was a great improvement.
My boyfriend would dearly like to know when your ginger song will be available for download so that he can giggle away to himself whilst agreeing that once you’ve done ginger, you can’t go back.
Cheers for an entertaining evening,
Ginger.
Ok, I saw you for the first time live last night. Loved it!
All the songs were fantastic and I think I was the only person in the whole audience who got the Ghostbusters piano reference. You are a man after my own tastes.
Good luck and Enjoy the rest of the festival.
p.s. you have inspired me to stop constantly writing such serious songs, I too am a rock and roll nerd. thanks
Tim!
Saw your show tonight at the Edinburgh Festival.
Genius.
Face still hurts from laughing.

Hey Tim, I just recently started listening to your stuff and you’ve quickly become my favorite comedian. You should come to the U.S. and do a tour (with a stop or two in Ohio), so I can see you live because I would definitely come see you.
Tim, awesome stuff. Just found out about you today and can’t stop listening. By the way, anyone ever say you look a little similar to the lead singer of a Houston, Texas, US group Blue October named Justin Furstenfeld?
just spent three hours listening to just about everything you have on youtube, searing self analysis and a lot of fun. you are fast becoming a legend. thank you
Dear Tim Minchin,
This is the first time I am writing to you, I have been listening (like everyone else) to all the songs I could find of yours on youtube, since my friend stole the ‘So Live’ DVD from me.
I hope you are well and the family and hope that your life is blessed every single moment.
I wish to be in the singing (not comedy cause I suck at that) business like you in the future.
I hope to comment on your Guestbook again, I have so many questions to ask on how you got to where you are now but I’ll save that another day.
Sincerely,
Gizelle
I’m coming to edinburgh tomorrow! Yay! And your show is first on my list so i’ll see you tomorrow evening, even if you don’t see me..!
DUDE!
your hilarious,i can listen to your tracks over and over and just laugh for hours !
I came to watch your show last night, worried you were going to be a male victoria wood, you weren’t, you were very agreeable, peculiar and hugely funny. I may take in one of your shows in the future.
Saw your show on Sunday night and I must say I was disappointed……that it didn’t last longer – very very funny!
Hello Tim, and greetings from Washington DC! I’ve only recently stumbled across your videos on YouTube and I am absolutely amazed that I had never heard of you before! You’re sort of like the bastard love child of Eddie Izzard and Beethoven. And honestly, I think you play better than Elton John.
Please come to the United States as soon as possible, and keep up the good work!
Saw the gig on sunday, after bumping into you in toilet before the show…re-phrase that…erm after meeting you in the bathroom….erm….i saw you washing your hands and I said hi…..anyway, awesome night was the point i wished to make, loved the stuff….hate to say was the first time i had seen you and had only recently heard of you…you have however, jumped to one of my favorite acts…i thankyou. u were great, this will not be the last time i see your shows. may see you in coventry if I can.
I like you; we should meet for lunch some time (I’m subtle as a brick, me). x
Love what you do, but why have we still got to order your dvd’s via Australia ? Be so much handier and cheaper if we could buy all your stuff locally.
Bonjour,
Saw you recently at the Latitude festival (on the telly, i’m too cheap to actually go to these things ^_^) and i fell in love with you! I’d seen you before on Never Mind The Buzzcocks as well and thought you were quite cool. PLEASE put the Ginger song up for downloads! I can’t find it anywhere and I want to educate my friends in ginger etiquette. and have something good to listen to on my mp3 :)
jo xx
Hey I saw you on TV and fell in love with your canvas bag song! Can you please put it up for download?!
You were great on Never Mind the Buzzcocks too!
Legend! Was at your performance last night at the plesance grand and was the best thing ive seen in years! I was crying with laughter in parts- please come to newcastle! Except im going to durham! I hadnt really heard of you before last night but you are now one of the best comedians around in my opinion. Keep up the good work! See you in October!
Hello. i know you don’t know who the hell i am, but i just thought i’d drop by and say..you’re frickin awesome :)
Hey.. you dont know me either but i know the that girl and although your awesome your not as awesome as her and i love her SO much even if she gets me in trouble sometimes ;) lol
Hey Man!
Loving the stuff that you do, can’t wait to see you in october!
You are such an inspiration in my friend and I’s comedy sketch show,
“Weasl and Sheepez”. You should check us out on youtube! Try the cooking show:P
The Mia girl before is also my friend, not that it matters:P she’s pretty cool!
See ya in october man!
Hi! Thanks for getting the people at the front of the tent to stand up at latitude….it meant that we were not only dry but we were able to laugh our butts off at your good self! =^.^=
Edinburgh was AMAZING!
Everyone who asked us what to go see were directly directed to Tim Minchin!
Me and my friend, saw you at the Edinburgh festival and we thought you were amazing! I didn’t stop laughing throughout the whole show and I loved the song “If I Didn’t Have You” I have never ever laughed so much! And I loved it at the end when you told us about the woman who came up to you and felt sorry for your wife and you said “It’s not a song about love, it’s obviously a song about maths.” You’re actually THE BEST comedian I have ever seen. If anyone at Edinburgh asked us who they should see we told them straight off “Tim Minchin”. Amazing.
Hello ,
im judt popping by to say that i think your amazing
your piano is so good
and your songwriting is high-larious
you need to come back to australia ,
you had a gig a while back but i missed it which is sad
i love every single one of your songs
so does one of my besties
he performs the songs alot
and we both love you
your a great performer

xx
Hi Tim.
I usually dont really write in guest books, i guess i dont want to be under the burden of wasting someones time. lol
But Im writting to say how much your music and general outlook has given me the spark I needed to get back into music :)
Ive been a fan since early 2007, and even succumbed to the evil monster of capitalism and bought your lovley merchandise :)
I dont expect a reply, I only wished to extend my thanks and best wishes for the future =)
x
Hey! we saw you in edinburgh and it was a wonderfull show! (we where sitting being the queen of the f asterisque arsterisque king universe ;) ) Since I’m from France I never thought I’d get to see one of your shows, so it was bloody lucky you were there! A great night I’ll definitly remember!!
Awesome Tim, the first time i’d heard of you was on Monday when i saw your Fringe show, (It’s 11.30, we’re up late! YAY!)and I laughed so much i had tears rolling down my face, so there is now officially one more fan in your collection. My boyfriend is a musician and since I’ve known him he’s always made up silly songs… now I know where he gets it from! Anyway I just wanted to say thank you for the laughter (and the CD which keeps me amused in my car!) and I look forward to the next time you come back to Glasgow/Edinburgh, or when i can get a copy of ‘only a ginger can call another ginger ginger’ too! Take care! Lj x
my friend introduced me to your stuff… she knew who you were because shes from australia too. she made the biggest mistake ever because now she got the whole lot of us walking down the street sing your songs and getting funny looks when we say that we are going to cut people legs off and kick them in the head with them…..yea….
they think your adorable because you look all cuddly with you big hair, sweet little expressions, eyeliner (all huys should wear it) and little cutesy feet. :D
point taken, so true :)….
unfortunatley we will not be traveling to london (?) to bring you cookies haha. maybe we`ll post you a banana….
toodles…
Hey, watched the show on Sunday night (we were sat right behind Colin Murray, which was also quite star-spangly). Awesome gig dude! Looking forward to getting the new show on cd. We’re likely gonna stalk you throughout your Scottish shows, so you have ample time to apply for that restraining order! ;)
Hi Tim, I did feel a little silly for having to look up Aldeburgh on a map as I didn’t even know it was in the UK – it does sound a bit Austrian – it does! Although Snape Maltings did give me a clue as that does sound peculiarly English and also conjures up Hogwarts in my mind. However, I have just noticed that you are apparently performing down a well in Tunbridge at the end of October – an unusually intimate, echoey and probably damp venue surely. Have fun …but do remember to tell Lassie or Skippy where you’re going. xx
Hey Tim, love your work!!!
I’m currently trying to figure out how to play ‘Darkside’ but am stuck :(
I’ve looked all over the internet and have spent hours trying to figure this out!!! (I’m terrible at playing by ear. by the way!) I was just wondering if u could help me with some sheet music, or a link, or any hints to help me figure it out!!! It would be much appreciated! Thnx man, keep writing your brilliant songs!
you scare me.
but in a funny way.
hah i wish i jumped from 2nd Grade AMEB to BA… no no, i have to climb rung-by-rung.
i like your stock broker joke (stock… breaker…)
i like ben folds too – and when you sing “he likes ben folds” you sound like ben folds, and somehow i cannot help but think that was done subconsciously (on purpose).
F (shitting) sharp never fails to make me laugh.
i listen to it on the bus and start laughing and get the kind of looks you must get when you walk out on stage with that hair.
it disturbs me that you wear eye-liner simply because Green Day and Simple Plan also wear eye-liner…
print your music, damn it!
i can do the chords by ear, but rhythms – i need them written down. (AMEB has failed me aurally).
i wished i kept going with piano lessons, hell maybe one day i could even play as well as
ELTON JOHN.
Hi Tim
Just booked a ticket for your Manchester gig and (since I’m a loner and am coming on my own) managed to get an amazing seat. Just thought I’d share the good news.
When does the tour down under start? Your brother is nowhere near as funny!
Hi Tim,
I’d seen a few of the YouTube classics before, but I came to the show in Edinburgh this year for the first time, and absolutely loved it, thanks so much. I think it’s fair to say that I basically haven’t stopped telling people about it since (‘Jesus are you still going on about that guy?’) and recruiting new Followers. Booked a big group for London next week (exact same show?!) and can’t wait. Cheers x
I knew I recognised you from the DVD – must have seen you around the Con somewhere in my old orchestra days. I used to hang around WAAPA like a bad smell – good thing it was only our playing that really stank :)
Fantastic work, love the mix of comedy and music, it always goes down a treat with us jaded ol’ music nerds.

Aaahh, try again!?! Hopefully the link will be clickable now.

Hey Tim!
Just wondering if you’re planning a Canadian Tour anytime soon? Preferably one that’s stopping in Calgary… ;D
